ELS Language Centers/New York-RiverdaleDescriptionELS Language Centers offers a group-intensive course that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced. Each level takes four weeks to complete. There are two basic programs: Intensive English = 30 hours/week; Semi-Intensive English = 20 hours/week. Electives include TOEFL Preparation, Multi-Media Language Lab, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English.
Four-week sessions start every month throughout the year. A calendar of start dates may be found on our website at www.els.edu. LocationOverlooking the Hudson River and the island of Manhattan, ELS Language Centers/Riverdale is located in the beautiful Riverdale section of New York City. The scenic residential campus of the College of Mount Saint Vincent is conveniently located just minutes away from all the excitement and fun of New York City. The College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV) provides a gymnasium, exercise room, indoor pool, and basketball, racquetball, handball and tennis courts. Students admitted to CMSV may attend college classes for credit concurrently with their ELS Language Centers program once they reach Level 108 or above. ELS Language Centers graduates who enroll in CMSV receive up to 6 units of credit for completing Level 109. Level 109 graduates may participate in an Internship Experience program with local businesses. Students may enroll in 2 Certificate Programs: International Business and Global Economics; and Global Communication and the Media (Level 107 and above). Discover the real New York: soul food in Harlem, jazz in Greenwich Village and fashion shopping in SoHo. Sample the exciting night life: Broadway musicals, theater, dance clubs, concerts, and world class sporting events.

Proprietary ELS textbooks, authored by the most respected authors in the field and available only to ELS students, are included in program tuition at Levels 101-109. Students at Levels 110-112 use authentic college-level English materials.
Also included is standardized level completion testing developed in cooperation with The Chauncy Group InternationalTM, a subsidiary of the Educational Testing Service® (ETS). Student ServicesBefore applying to ELS Language Centers, students can contact a local counseling agent in their city/country by going to www.els.edu. Upon arrival, students will have access to the Center's international student advising team for counseling services. The advising team provides a wide range of services that include airport pickup, assistance with housing, cultural orientation, help with immigration matters, college admissions counseling, and sponsorship of a variety of social and recreational activities. Educational Service OpportunitiesNearly 600 colleges, universities and career schools in the U.S. accept completion of the ELS Intensive English program in place of the TOEFL. University placement services are provided, and students may earn university credit based on their ELS study upon enrolling at select partner institutions. A listing of ELS partner schools is available at www.els.edu. TransportationThe campus is served by nearby subway, bus, train, private van, and express bus services, providing access to Midtown Manhattan in 30 minutes or less, and easy access to and all parts of the region.
