English Language Institute

Description

Intensive full-time and part-time ESL programs for academic, professional and social advancement and enrichment; TOEFL preparation; special group and corporate programs. 7 and 14 week programs during the academic year; two 5 week sessions, Intensive TOEFL preparation session during the summer. Cultural and social activities are a regular part of the full-time Intensive program.

Location

The beautiful Manhattanville College campus, in Westchester Coutny, is a safe, suburban setting, located just a 30 minute train ride from the attractions of New York City. A short bus ride from the College, the city of White Plains offers easy access to shopping, movies, and restaurants.

Teaching Qualifications

MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or a related field; experience in teaching English as a Second Language in a college setting.

Accommodations

Dormitory: $2850

Dormitory charge is for 7 weeks and includes board (meals): 3 meals per day Monday - Friday, 2 meals per day (brunch and dinner) Saturday and Sunday. There are hotels in the area; some have special rates for Manhattanville students.

Student Services

A full-time international student advisor services students' personal, visa counseling and recreational needs. ELI students are full-fledged members of the College community. They are welcome to participate in all College activities and clubs, including the International Student Organization, and to use all campus facilities.

Educational Service Opportunities

Academic advising is available on a daily basis. Provisional admission to the College is offered to both graduate and undergraduate applicants. Students at advanced levels may take regular, credit-bearing university classes with the approval of the Director of the ELI.

Transportation

Airport pick-up from JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Westchester County Airports can be arranged. Public bus transportation is available on campus to local trains going into New York City.

Application Information

Students must send an application, a $50 application fee, a $300 tuition, room and board deposit for residents, or, a $200 tuition deposit for non-residents. Students applying for a student visa (F1), and choosing to live on campus must submit a financial statement showing a minimum of $10,000 for 14 weeks.
