American Language InstituteDescriptionSSALI provides instruction for academic purposes as well as for social or job-related needs. In addition to "core" courses, students can choose from electives such as TOEFL, Culture/Conversation, English for Business, Pronunciation. SSALI offers fall and spring semesters (13 weeks each) and two 5-week summer sessions. There is a three week course in January. Mid-semester enrollment is also permitted. Proficiency levels range from high beginning to advanced.
LocationThe program is on the northern California campus of Sonoma State University in a modern, suburban city, known for its safety and friendliness. The excitement of San Francisco, the beauty of the Sonoma wine country and the spectacular Pacific coastline are all less than an hour from the campus.

Student ServicesSSALI provides full orientation and strong individual support. Counselors are available for university placement and for academic or personal counseling. The student ID card permits full use of campus facilities: library, media resources, computer & listening labs, athletic equipment, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. Students pay a small fee for access to the student health center. Educational Service OpportunitiesSSALI enjoys a cooperative relationship with the SSU Office of Admissions. SSALI can grant conditional admission to eligible students who intend to pursue an undergraduate degree program at Sonoma State University. Qualified students can participate in the concurrent enrollment program taking part time SSALI and part time university courses. TransportationExpress bus from San Francisco International Airport, or pick up service for a small fee. Bus service is available from the campus to local shops and housing.
