Intensive English Center (IEC)DescriptionThe IEC offers year-round intensive programs: two 15-week semesters and a 6-week summer session. Language skills classes in all levels meet daily. Elective courses include TOEFL Preparation, Grammar, Pronunciation/Accent Improvement, American Film and Culture, Current Events. Students have access to the University's multimedia Language Learning Center.
LocationOn the wooded north shore of Long Island 60 miles east of New York City. The nearby Stony Brook village houses museums and fashionable shops. From the neighboring village of Port Jefferson, ferries run to Connecticut, a gateway to Boston and New England.

Student ServicesAll campus facilities are available to IEC students - indoor sports complex with pool, tennis courts, fine arts center, bookstore, cafeterias. The IEC organizes social events and field trips on Long Island and New York City. Academic advising, counseling and health services are available to all students. Educational Service OpportunitiesThe 550 TOEFL requirement for undergraduate admission to the university is waived for students who complete one of the advanced IEC levels. IEC students may audit university courses and advanced students may register for credit. TransportationTrain station next to the campus provides easy access transportation to New York City. Bus transportation to local communities available. |
