A wide variety of elective courses include iBT and IELTS preparation courses, Business English, Pronunciation, News, and American Culture through Film, Sports, Music. Certificate programs, short-term institutes, and online courses are also available.

Student ServicesA wide variety of social activities are available through FIUTS, an organization on the UW campus to promote international understanding. Typical activities are free activities such as Wednesday lunches,cultural workshops, games night, pub quizzes, cultural movie series, brown bags with guest speakers, and quarterly teas. Other events such as recreational and professional sports outings, parties, local trips, and longer trips around the country are for the cost of the events. Educational Service OpportunitiesThe University of Washington IEP provides a full range of academic and immigration counseling as well as assistance with housing. Students in their second quarter in Upper Division may enroll in regular University of Washington courses depending on departmental permission on a standby, space-available basis. TransportationThe university is easily accessible by car or bus. Special bus passes are available for students.
