English Language InstituteDescriptionThe Pace English Language Institute (ELI) is a short walk from Chinatown, Little Italy and SoHo in Lower Manhattan. ELI offers intensive English, beginning level to advanced level, for students, tourists and business people. ELI provides quality (small classes; highly trained, experienced faculty) and friendly, personal service (caring faculty; one-on-one advisement, out-of-class activities). ELI also offers a Pre-Undergraduate program; Pre-MBA/Pre-Graduate program; TOEFL and GMAT preparation. Students can choose between 7-week and 14-week terms with 18-23 hrs/wk. There are two 6-week terms in the summer.
LocationThe New York City campus is located in lower Manhattan near the financial district. It is a short walk from Chinatown, Little Italy, SoHo and other exciting attractions.
Teaching QualificationsAll instructors hold master's degrees in TESOL or related field and have at least 2 years of teaching experience.

Notes on Fees:
The minimum tuition fee reflects 4 weeks of a 7 or 14 week session in the intensive program. The maximum tuition fee reflects 4 weeks of a 7 or 14 week session in the pre-undergraduate program. The cost of health insurance is based on 14-week session. Other required fees include the General Institution Fee for a 7-week session.
AccommodationsDormitory: $225
During the summer sessions, the dormitory costs $85 per week. Full payment is required to reserve a room in the summer. During the fall and spring semesters, the dormitory costs $225 per week, plus a $500 deposit. Payment by money order only. Student ServicesEach semester a dedicated staff of ESL professionals plan numerous events for ELI students and friends to participate in and attend. These activities include guided tours of the city, book clubs, museum visits, attending area sporting events and other fun activities. Many of these events are free or inexpensive. The ELI also offers the opportunity to participate in weekly conversation circles with other students, faculty and administrators. Students have access to all University facilities, including the library, multimedia and computer labs, the gym and campus health clinic. Educational Service OpportunitiesConditional admission to Pace University undergraduate programs is available for qualified students. TOEFL test is not required for admission to Pace undergraduate programs. Advanced students may take undergraduate and graduate credit courses with the director's approval. TransportationPace University is easily accessible by public transportation. Nearby subway lines include the Red Line (2 or 3 train to Park Place); the Blue Line (A, C, or E train to Chambers Street); the Yellow Line (N or R train to City Hall); the Green Line (4, 5, and 6 train to Brooklyn Bridge); the Brown Line (J, M, and Z train). Use of the New York City Metrocard allows riders to transfer from bus to subway and vice versa so that it is possible to reach Manhattan from any of the five boroughs onone fare ($2.00). The ferry to Staten Island is free. |
