Language Studies International

Description

LSI New York offers Standard and Intensive group courses, as well as Individual courses for business and professional purposes. TOEFL Preparation is also available. We have weekly start dates and viable course lengths. Students may use the computer labs of Metropolitan College of New York with free internet access. Student services include both accommodation and activity programs.

Language Studies International New York is located in downtown Manhattan on the edge of SoHo near the Financial District.

Teaching Qualifications

As required by the New York State Education Department, all instructors must have a bachelor's degree plus one of the following: a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language or one year's full time ESL/EFL teaching experience.

Classes follow an integrated skills appoach focusing on all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Conversational Fluency is available as an afternoon option at all levels, and TOEFL Preparation is an afternoon option for students at the High Intermediate level or above.

Notes on Fees:
Discounts are built into tuition rates for long-term study of 12+ weeks. Special International School Year rates for 24, 30, 36 and 40 weeks are also available.

Accommodations

Homestay: $1260

The Homestay rate is for 4 weeks, single room with half board (breakfast and dinner) outside Manhattan. The rate for homestay with breakfast only outside Manhattan is $252 per week, or $1008 for 4 weeks. Also available are the West Side YMCA Residence and the Vanderbilt YMCA Residence at a cost of $427 per week, or $1708 for 4 weeks. Rooms are single with shared bath, no meals included.

Student Services

LSI New York offers a full program of teacher- and staff-run after-class activities as well as weekend excursions through American International Tours. A fulltime Student Services Coordinator is available to assist with students' daily needs, including banking, medical treatment, and immigration matters.

LSI staff members are available to assist students wishing to take the official TOEFL Exam or to apply to American colleges and universities.
