ELS Language Centers/ChicagoDescriptionELS Language Centers offers a group-intensive course that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced. Each level takes four weeks to complete. There are two basic programs: Intensive English = 30 hours/week; Semi-Intensive English = 20 hours/week. Electives include TOEFL Preparation, Multi-Media Language Lab, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English.

LocationSituated on 30 wooded acres in a beautiful Chicago suburb, 15 miles west of the City's business center, our campus is a perfect example of Gothic architecture. With its tree-lined streets, River Forest embodies the very best of Midwest America. On campus, you'll enjoy concerts, theatrical productions, films, and a Student Center complete with a bookstore and grill. The Student Center also has a major sports facility with an indoor running track, racquetball courts, fitness center, and swimming pool. Founded in 1901, Dominican University is known for its friendly spirit and excellent academic programs. Ranked in the top 15 of all Midwest regional universities by U.S. News & World Report, Dominican University offers an impressive MBA program as well as graduate programs in Library and Information Science and Education. Dominican was named to the Honor Roll of Character Building Institutions in 1997 by the John Templeton Foundation. Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio are located in nearby Oak Park as well as the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway. Proprietary ELS textbooks, authored by the most respected authors in the field and available only to ELS students, are included in program tuition at Levels 101-109. Students at Levels 110-112 use authentic college-level English materials.
Also included is standardized level completion testing developed in cooperation with The Chauncy Group InternationalTM, a subsidiary of the Educational Testing Service® (ETS). These tests accurately measure a student's abilities upon completing each ELS level. ETS is the maker of SAT, GMAT, TOEFL, TOEIC and other standardized tests. AccommodationsDormitory: $1150

Student ServicesBefore applying to ELS Language Centers, students can contact a local counseling agent in their city/country by going to www.els.edu. Upon arrival, students will have access to the Center's international student advising team for counseling services. The advising team provides a wide range of services that include airport pickup, assistance with housing, cultural orientation, help with immigration matters, college admissions counseling, and sponsorship of a variety of social and recreational activities. Educational Service OpportunitiesNearly 600 colleges, universities and career schools in the U.S. accept completion of the ELS Intensive English program in place of the TOEFL. University placement services are provided, and students may earn university credit based on their ELS study upon enrolling at select partner institutions. A listing of ELS partner schools is available at www.els.edu. TransportationAirport pickup service can be arranged from any of the Chicago area airports. Public transportation is available from campus for travel into Chicago by bus, or on the "L," which is Chicago's mass transit system.
