English Language InstituteDescriptionThe English Language Institute (ELI) is an Intensive English Program of 8 proficiency levels. Students attend classes 5 hours per day, in 8-week terms. A computer lab is available to all students in all levels. TOEFL preparation classes are available at all levels. We offer several different elective courses for our students: music, driver license test preparation, photography, etc. Counseling and tutoring are provided upon request.
LocationThe University of Tennessee English Language Institute is a short drive from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a favorite vacation area. The University is located in Knoxville, a safe and busy university community.

Student ServicesThe English Language Institute provides a full program of academic and recreational activities. Students have access to all campus facilities and activities. They are also welcome to participate in activities at the International House. Educational Service OpportunitiesStudents admitted to the institute are assisted in applying to appropriate graduate and undergraduate programs in the United States, including those here at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). TransportationWe provide airport pick-up and settling-in assistance to all students upon request. The institute is within walking distance of dormitories, and the university provides a trolley service. Application InformationWe have 6 terms per year-Fall I and II, Spring I and II, Summer, and July Term. Applications are accepted year-round. Program and housing information will be sent upon request.
