Texas Intensive English ProgramDescriptionSince 1965 the Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP) has provided the highest quality English language instruction to individuals whose native language is not English. TIEP has helped more than 30,000 students and professionals from 126 countries to achieve their goals and to succeed in a global environment. TIEP offers English for Academic Purposes, English for Business and Careers, and English for Communication & Culture from beginning to advanced levels of proficiency. University ExpressSM , a unique concept in educational excellence, is a comprehensive, accelerated, and individualized university-preparation program which includes intensive English study at TIEP. TIEP offers classes year-round. Session length ranges from 3 weeks to 16 weeks, with 20-30 hours of instruction per week. Part-time afternoon elective classes, including TOEFL Preparation, Pronunciation, and Conversation Skills, are also available. TIEP offers an evening program for individuals who live and work in the Austin area. TIEP instructors are experienced, professionally-trained teachers with master's and Ph.D. degrees. Conditional admission and TOEFL waiver are available for colleges and universities. Housing assistance and airport pick up are also available. TIEP is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and is a member in good standing of UCIEP - University and College Intensive English Programs. TIEP is a nonprofit educational organization and is a division of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC). TIEC assists educators and students worldwide to strengthen instructional programs, build effective management and administrative structures, and develop a foundation for active, life-long learning. Founded in 1985 this independent, self-funded, non-profit corporation delivers a full range of services by utilizing the extensive resource base of 32 public universities in the State of Texas along with other institutions in the United States.
