University ESL ProgramDescriptionOur 5-level curriculum is designed to prepare students to study at an American college or university as well as help develop the skills needed in professional settings. In addition to core skill classes, elective courses such as Computers, International Business, TOEFL Preparation, Movie Making, Volunteering ,and Creative Writing are very popular. Our most advanced level includes supervised visitations to regular university classes. Conditional undergraduate admission is offered and the UESL recommendation is accepted in place of TOEFL for undergraduate admission. Other features include American roommates and Conversation Partners, cooking club, field trips and social activities.
LocationEllensburg is a friendly, safe university town in a beautiful farming valley near the Cascade Mountains and the Yakima and Columbia Rivers in central Washington state only 90 minutes from the Seattle area. Central Washington University has about 8,000 students. Students can walk or ride a bicycle everywhere in Ellensburg. Every summer there is the Jazz in the Valley Festival and the famous Kittitas County Rodeo/ County Fair. Central Washington University is home to the world famous Chimpanzee and Human Commmunication Institute.

Educational Service OpportunitiesAcademic counseling and help with applications to American universities and colleges are provided. Conditional undergraduate admission to Central Washington University is offered through the UESL Program. American conversation partners or conversation groups are arranged. TransportationBefore arriving, students receive information about transportation from SeaTac Airport near Seattle to Ellensburg. Regular bus service is available. UESL staff will meet buses arriving in Ellesnburg from Sea-Tac Airport. Pick-up at the Yakima Airport ( 45-minute flight from Seattle) can be arranged. |
