English as a Second Language Institute

Description

Beautiful campus (35 buildings) on river. The ESL program offers:  4 hours of class daily; 20 hours each week; small classes. 4 levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced.  4 skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening.

Airport pickup (free) at Green Bay Airport (GRB)

Tutors available every afternoon (free)

Conversation partners with American students (not available in summer.

Friendship families. 

College sports center, library, health center, computer labs, food service, student center, activities.

Conditional admission (with merit scholarships) to degree programs at St. Norbert College. 

Location

We are located in a small town near Green Bay, Wisconsin (pop. 200,000+) on the banks of the Fox River only eight minutes from Green Bay Airport, three hours by car from Chicago, and two hours by car from Madison and Milwaukee. Quiet, safe, mid-western town; friendly people.

Teaching Qualifications

ESL instructors have Ph.D. and MA degrees in TESL or closely related field. In the summer, part-time instructors are experienced ESL instructors from public schools in our area.

ESL programs are accredited by North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.

Facilities

ESL students use facilities of Saint Norbert College including: college classrooms, computer labs, e-mail & internet; 12 dormitories, cafeteria, student center, health center, sports center, music practice rooms, academic advising, tutors, immigration advising, etc. All dormitory rooms have phones and internet access.  Some buildings have wireless internet access.

ESL students stay in College dormitories. The average cost of dormitories is $400 per month. Students in dormitories must also have a College meal plan. Students over the age of 22 may live off campus, but we do not find off-campus housing for students.

Free airport pickup, orientation and testing, conversation partners, tutors, host families, computer training, College health center, sports center, library, immigration counseling, activities and special events, free internet and e-mail on all college computers.

Educational Service Opportunities

ESL students may apply for conditional admission to undergraduate degree programs - no TOEFL score required if students successfully complete the ESL advanced level. College tuition scholarships are available to qualified students. ESL students are encouraged to participate in College activities: music, sports, service activities, clubs and organizations.  Saint Norbert College is a private, 4-year university. 

Transportation

Airport pickup at Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay (GRB), ten minutes from campus.  Best service is by Northwest Airlines from Minneapolis or Detroit connect to Green Bay.  United Airlines and American Airlines from Chicago to Green Bay.
