American Language and Culture InstituteDescriptionALCI programs provide challenging and interesting courses. The Intensive Academic Preparation Program (IAP) and University Bridge Program prepare students to succeed in U.S. colleges and universities. IAP is also suitable for professionals who need fluency and an advanced level of academic English. Completion of IAP provides TOEFL equivalency for graduate and undergraduate admission to CSUSM; conditional admission to CSUSM graduate and undergraduate programs is available to qualified students. Classes are small, so instructors give each student individual attention and many kinds of learning opportunities. Students also participate in a variety of events and activities such as beach BBQs and bonfires, picnics, class field trips, and American cultural celebrations.
LocationCalifornia State University San Marcos is located on the hills of San Marcos, a small, safe suburban city in beautiful San Diego North--the heart of coastal southern California. California's most beautiful beaches, mountains, and deserts are a short distance from campus so you can surf, swim, bicycle, golf, and ski. San Marcos is located 50 km north of San Diego and 150 km south of Los Angeles. The San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Disneyland, and Hollywood are from 30 to 90 minutes by car.
Teaching QualificationsALCI instructors have Master's Degrees and several years of experience teaching international students from many countries. Most have traveled or lived abroad, and many speak a second language. ALCI instructors are excellent teachers and mentors.
