ELS Language Centers/Santa MonicaDescriptionELS Language Centers offers a group-intensive course that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced. Each level takes four weeks to complete. There are two basic programs: Intensive English = 30 hours/week; Semi-Intensive English = 20 hours/week. Electives include California Culture, Here's Hollywood, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English.
Four-week sessions start every month throughout the year. A calendar of start dates may be found on our website at www.els.edu. LocationJust the name Santa Monica conjures up images of our beautiful beaches. Our bright sunny sky and fabulous temperate weather are attractions for tourists from all over. You cannot beat our weather with an average of more than 340 sunny days a year. Santa Monica is a diverse city of 85,000 people. ELS lies in the heart of downtown only one block from the world famous Third Street Promenade where students go to eat, shop, or watch the local street performers. At the other end is the Santa Monica Place mall, where many of our students eat for a mere $5-6. Students can walk, cycle or roller blade along the path to Venice Beach, or if they are really energetic, all the way to Manhattan Beach.

FacilitiesJust because we are not associated with a university does not mean we do not have resources. Ours come from the community, and many of them are closer to the ELS center than most facilities are on college and university campuses.
Sports gymnasium and facilities: The local YMCA, a five-minute walk from the center, offers our students a special monthly price for use of all of its facilities. The Santa Monica Public Libraries: The main branch of the Santa Monica library is a five-minute walk from the center, and offers our students free library cards with the opportunity to borrow books, videos, DVDs, and magazines. Internet: we have both cable and wireless capabilities. There are also many Internet cafes around town where students can use the Internet for the price of a cup of coffee.
