Intensive English Program

Description

This program is for individuals who wish to improve their language skills for academic, professional, or personal reasons. The program emphasizes the basic language skills, includes cultural components, and offers electives such as TOEFL preparation, and computer classes.

Location

The University of San Francisco is a private Catholic, Jesuit University founded in 1855. It is located on a 55-acre hilltop campus. It overlooks Golden Gate Park, the Pacific Ocean, and downtown San Francisco. USF is located in a safe, residential neighborhood with easy access to public transportation.

Teaching Qualifications

Faculty hold advanced degrees (master's or doctorate) in TESL, linguistics, or related fields. They also have extensive teaching experience abroad and in the U.S.A.

Facilities

On campus housing is available to IEP students during the summer . Students have the use of all USF facilities such as the library, computer and language laboratories. For a small fee, students may use the USF recreation center.

Student Services

Academic advising, international student and scholar services (visa and immigration issues), recreation center, health clinic, counseling and psychological services, and access to on-campus activities, events and facilities. Conditional admission is offered to undergraduate and graduate students who are academically qualified.

Educational Service Opportunities

Modern language learning laboratory, Conversation Partner Program, modern classrooms, computer labs, e-mail accounts for all students, access to USF facilities and events. The Institutional TOEFL is given regularly.

Transportation

USF is 30 minutes from downtown and the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The university is well served by public transportation.
