English Center for International Women (ECIW)Description8-week fall,spring and summer sessions of English for academic preparation and English for vocational preparation, 16-week university preparation course, semester (16-week), extended semester (24-week), and academic year (32-week) programs with 7 levels of language proficiencies-basic to advanced and pre-university. Workplace internships also available. Strong computer applications and career preparation courses.
LocationECIW is located on the 51 hectare Mills College campus in suburban Oakland, California. Mills is located in the San Francisco Bay area, 25 minutes from San Francisco, 20 minutes from Berkeley, and 40 minutes from Stanford University. The S.F. Bay area is famous for its cosmopolitan culture, world-class restaurants and shops, and mild climate.
Teaching QualificationsInstructors have master's degrees in TESL or a related area. Some instructors have doctorates or law degrees in addition to their ESL degree training.

FacilitiesThe Center is located in the Jack London Square district of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, an exiting area for culture, recreation and education. Students may live in a private apartment or live with a carefully chosen host family. The English center is accessible by public transportation including bus, BART, Amtrak, and the San Francisco ferry.

ECIW arranges dormitory and homestay accommodations only. Dormitory includes a 17-meal plan per week and homestay includes 2 meals per day. Choose single or double-occupancy rooms. On campus housing is not available during the summer sessions, only during the academic year. Student ServicesServices include conversation partner program, orientation to campus and community, Student Activities Coordinator who plans activities and helps students adjust to campus life, between session homestays, weekend recreational trips to Disneyland, Yosemite, Napa Valley, and other places, extensive Mills College recreational facilities. Educational Service OpportunitiesServices include academic advising, university placement counseling, provisional acceptance to Mills undergraduate and graduate degree programs for academically qualified women. Facilities include complete learning center with audio/video tape library, reading library, computer laboratory, and use of Mills College recreational facilities including its 50m pool, tennis courts, and gymnasium. TransportationDirect public transportation to and from San Francisco, Mills College van between Mills and University of California, Berkeley. Airport pick-up service. Parking available on campus.
