English Language InstituteDescriptionUC San Diego is a major research university and is ranked 13th internationally in the 2007 Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and 8th overall in the USA. UC San Diego is situated on 5 kilometers overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and has access to 100 kilometers of beaches, mountains up to 2,000 meters, and the best climate in the United States. International students get much more than a language program! International students also have access to a variety of certificate programs and university courses leading to work experience, and all of the university's resources such as 10 libraries, 20 tennis courts, computer labs, and more. LocationSan Diego is on the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, two hours south of Los Angeles by car, and about 30 minutes north of the Mexican border. The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is about 20 kilometers north of downtown San Diego, in a wealthy part of San Diego called La Jolla. San Diego is a small city (1.3 million people in the city itself, and a total of 2.8 million in the area), with a great quality of life. The natural beauty of the ocean and beaches, and the perfect climate (an average high temperature of 18.3 Celsius in January, and 25.6 in August), make San Diego a place you wont want to leave. UCSD is a well-known research university, with 21,000 students and a huge campus of over 5 square kilometers overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is one campus of the ten-campus University of California system (UC Berkeley and UCLA are other campuses in the system). San Diego is well known for its high-tech companies, focused on biomedical research, and telecommunications.
