Description

Intensive English for academic/general purposes, summer program, TOEFL preparation; the 4-level program meets 20 hours per week with classes in reading, reading skills, writing, grammar, communication and study skills; also available are electives in pronunciation, vocabulary, TOEFL preparation, American culture, Business English and academic listening. Practice TOEFL tests given. Institutional TOEFL test administered.

City College of San Francisco is located in the southwest corner of "Everybody's Favorite City" within easy access of bus and subway lines. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful and diverse cities in the world. IIS is close to all of the major tourist attractions.

Teaching Qualifications

All have Master's degrees and many years of teaching experience. Most speak other languages and have lived and travelled throughout the world. All are members of the English as a Second Language Department at CCSF.

Student Services

The Activities Coordinator plans an activities program including field trips within the San Francisco area and cultural activities on campus. Optional trips to other areas are available. Language partner program with City College students is possible. The Institute has its own computer lab with internet and email access. Academic counselling and assistance with college applications provided

Educational Service Opportunities

Institutional TOEFL testing administered twice each semester; Practice TOEFL exams given regularly. Academic counseling including assistance with college applications and immigration matters, access to reading and computer labs, study center and listening lab, transfer center assists with transferring to 4 year universities.

Transportation

San Francisco has an excellent bus system and the fast, convenient subway system has a stop at City College. There is easy access to the San Francisco Airport.

Application Information

Students must send an application, a $50 application fee, $11 health service fee, the necessary tuition and a financial statement showing $18,000 support for a 1-year period. Please include a copy of the biographical page of the passport. Transfer students must submit a transfer form and a copy of previous I-20s and I-94.
