ELS Language Centers/San RafaelDescriptionELS Language Centers offers a group-intensive course that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced. Each level takes four weeks to complete. There are two basic programs: Intensive English = 30 hours/week; Semi-Intensive English = 20 hours/week. Electives include TOEFL Preparation, Multi-Media Language Lab, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English.
Four-week sessions start every month throughout the year. A calendar of start dates may be found on our website at www.els.edu. LocationThe beautiful city of San Rafael lies just 18 km north of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. San Rafael is a city of 52,000 people located in one of the wealthiest and most beautiful counties in California - Marin County. Dominican College's lovely 32-hectare campus is situated in a turn-of-the-century residential neighborhood. Facilities include a computer center, multi-media center, swimming pool, fitness center, tennis courts and cafe. All campus residence hall rooms have their own telephones and are wired for cable television and high-speed internet access. Established in 1890, Dominican College is a Catholic, independent liberal arts college. Visit nearby beautiful beaches, Mt. Tamalpais for mountain biking, the famous Muir Woods redwood forest and the quaint Mediterranean-like villages of Sausalito and Tiburon. The world famous Napa Valley and Sonoma wine regions are north of the campus. Enjoy camping, mountain biking, sailing, windsurfing and hiking, and winter ski weekends at Lake Tahoe.

Proprietary ELS textbooks, authored by the most respected authors in the field and available only to ELS students, are included in program tuition at Levels 101-109. Students at Levels 110-112 use authentic college-level English materials.
Also included is standardized level completion testing developed in cooperation with The Chauncy Group InternationalTM, a subsidiary of the Educational Testing Service® (ETS). These tests accurately measure a student's abilities upon completing each ELS level. ETS is the maker of SAT, GMAT, TOEFL, TOEIC and other standardized tests. AccommodationsDormitory: $1395

ELS students are housed at the modern and well equipped San Rafael Student Home, only 3KM from the center. Daily transportation is provided to ELS/San Rafael. More information on the Student Home is available at www.sunrisehomesinternational.com. In June & July, students also have the option of living in the convenient and comfortable Dominican university dormitory. For students interested in living with an American family, we offer an excellent network of caring families in San Rafael, and nearby communities. We can also help with finding a private apartment, and hotel/extended stay options are also available. Student ServicesBefore applying to ELS Language Centers, students can contact a local counseling agent in their city/country by going to www.els.edu. Upon arrival, students will have access to the Center's international student advising team for counseling services. The advising team provides a wide range of services that include airport pickup, assistance with housing, cultural orientation, help with immigration matters, college admissions counseling, and sponsorship of a variety of social and recreational activities. Educational Service OpportunitiesNearly 600 colleges, universities and career schools in the U.S. accept completion of the ELS Intensive English program in place of the TOEFL. University placement services are provided, and students may earn university credit based on their ELS study upon enrolling at select partner institutions. A listing of ELS partner schools is available at www.els.edu. TransportationAirport pickup service can be arranged from any of the San Francisco area airports. Additionally, public transportation is available for travel into San Francisco.
