Intensive English Language ProgramDescriptionThe Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is a three-level university preparatory language program. Each semester has 300 hours of instruction in classes with integrated skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking, culture, TOEFL preparation, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. University credit may be earned if the student is admissible to UALR. NO TOEFL is required for graduates of IELP who apply to UALR as an undergraduate student..
LocationIELP is located on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a metropolitan university in the capital of the state of Arkansas. Located in the south central part of the United States, Little Rock boasts a mild climate, peaceful surroundings, and breathtaking natural beauty. Students enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, and water-skiing. Little Rock is driving distance to Dallas, New Orleans, Memphis, and St. Louis. Little Rock is a cosmopolitan city with small town friendliness.

AccommodationsOff-campus apartments are available near to campus. IELP does not make arrangements for apartments Student ServicesIELP provides both academic and nonacademic student services, such as academic advising, assistance with housing and settling-in needs, homestay placement, airport pick-up, and a Community Friend network. IELP students receive UALR ID cards and have access to all of the facilities on campus, including the library, computer labs (with free email and internet access), the Reading Lab, the Language Resource Center, the Writing Center, and the Aquatic and Fitness Centers. Educational Service OpportunitiesUALR offers conditional acceptance to academically admissible students. NO TOEFL score is necessary for IELP students who fully complete our highest level. TransportationIf the student lives in the Residence Hall or an apartment near campus, then a car is not necessary. If the student lives in an apartment far from campus, local public transportation is available, but it is time-consuming and limited. |
