Spring International Language Center

Description

The 6-level intensive English program consists of 23 hours of instruction per week focusing on grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking. In addition, students may choose from a variety of courses such as TOEFL or GMAT Preparation, Pronunciation, Idiomatic English, Conversation, and others.

Location

Spring International Language Center is located in downtown Denver on the campus of the Auraria Higher Education Center, which houses the University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Community College of Denver.  It is near many museums, parks, shopping areas, theaters and quality restaurants.

Teaching Qualifications

M.A. in English as a Second Language, Linguistics, or other related field, or a B.A. and a combination of relevant education and experience (graduate coursework in TESL, certificate in TESL, and teaching experience in teaching ESL).

Facilities

The school is located in the historic Tivoli Student Union building on the Auraria Higher Education Center campus. We have dedicated classrooms for Spring International students and a 17-station computer lab.  Students have campus IDs allowing them access to the campus library, health center, exercise room and sports facility.

The host family program provides housing with an American host. We screen our hosts and they offer the student a private room and two meals a day.

Nearby campus housing provides a room in a shared 2- or 4-bedroom suite with a kitchen.  Utilities are covered in the rent.  A lease is required.

Airport pickup service, assistance with housing, foreign student advising, social activities, full access to all campus facilities, and a conversation partner program.

Educational Service Opportunities

Students enrolled in the upper levels of Spring International may take 1 or 2 college classes at the college or university with permission.  Students completing Level 6 are accepted at Community College of Denver and other local community colleges without a TOEFL score.  Students maintaining a B average can get a TOEFL waiver for the University of Colorado Denver for undergraduate studies providing they meet all other admission requirements.

Transportation

The Auraria campus is served by buses and light rail from throughout the Denver metropolitan area. Denver International Airport, the major airport in the region, serves both coasts and Europe daily with non-stop flights.

Application Information

Students must send a completed application, $125 application fee, and financial guarantee. If the sponsor is in the U.S. an Affadavit of Support must also be included with the application. Students are admitted up to the first day of the term unless enrollments have been closed.
