University of Miami Intensive English Program

Description

The University of Miami Intensive English Program been teaching English to the international community since 1951, and has established a global reputation for excellence in programs and service. The IEP is a full-time program in English as a second language with a committment to preparing you for study in a university in the United States as well as enable you to be effective in communicating in professional and social settings.

Location

  • The University of Miami is located in Coral Gables, a residential suburb of Miami.
  • The campus offers a spectacular tropical setting, easy access to Miami and South Beach, and excellent facilities.

Teaching Qualifications

IEP instructors are full-time faculty at the University of Miami and have a minimum of a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, Applied Linguistics or a related field. They are native speakers and have extensive training and experince in teaching English as a Second Language.

The IEP is located on the University of Miami campus in a courtyard-style building in the center of the Coral Gables campus. Multimedia labs and Smartboard technology offer an innovative and dynamic learning environment.

Accommodations

  • The IEP offers on campus housing in during the summer semester.
  • On-campus housing is not available during the academic year (September - May) . 
  • The  Assistant Director for Student Services can assist you in providing information about alternative housing accommodations.

Student Services

  • The IEP provides social and cultural activities, and opportunities for intramural sports and volunteerism in the community.
  •  The Assitant Director for Student Services is available to counsel and assist students.

Educational Service Opportunities

  • Students may participate in all cultural and recreational activities and facilities of the University of Miami.
  • Conditional acceptance to the University of Miami undergraduate program is given to academically admissible students.
  • Successful completion of the highest level of IEP satisfies the English requirement for undergraduate admission to U.M.
