Intensive English Language ProgramDescriptionThe IELP is a noncredit intensive English program with 6 levels of instruction from beginning to advanced focusing on academic preparation in all skill areas (grammar, reading, writing, listening & speaking). Five 8-week sessions are offered year-round with 20 hours of instruction per week, plus weekly cultural activities and excursions. We are a small, intimate program that assures plenty of individual attention for each student.
LocationThe University of New Orleans is located in a quiet residential area on the south shore of beautiful Lake Pontchartrain and is just 15 minutes from the historic French Quarter, the Central Business District, and 20-25 minutes from the New Orleans International Airport.
Teaching QualificationsAll instructors hold Master's degrees and have extensive experience (average 10 years) teaching English in the US and abroad.

Tuition range shows 10 hour per week tuition and full-time, 20 hour per week tuition. Student service fee of $36 allows unlimited use of University health clinic services. Prices reflect the cost per 8-week session. Dormitory residents must also purchase a $547 meal plan per session, except in Summer. Student ServicesSession activities include a Welcome Reception, Shopping Trip, Culture Hour, Field Trip, Sports, Games, Movies, Karaoke, Discussion Groups, Bookstore Visits, Class Observation Day, and Certificate Ceremony. A student newsletter is published each session with contributions from students at all levels. Our Conversation Partners program is very popular. Educational Service OpportunitiesSpecial admissions meetings are held each session to assist students in applying to the University of New Orleans (UNO). Students in the IELP do not need TOEFL scores for admission to UNO. UNO is fully accredited and offers more than 100 majors at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Many international students choose UNO to study Business, Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Arts Administration, Computer Science, Music, Public Administration, and Hotel Restaurant & Tourism. TransportationThere are several bus routes that easily connect the University to the French Quarter, Downtown, and the New Orleans International Airport. Taxis and shuttles are also easily available. Application InformationStudents must send an application, a $150 non-refundable application fee, and a financial statement showing at least $5100 USD in order to register for the program. Student may also pay $200 SEVIS fee through University. I-20, SEVIS receipt, and acceptance packet are sent to student via DHL. |
