Intensive English ProgramDescriptionA five level program, Beginning to Advanced, with Reading, Writing, Speaking/Listening, and Grammar at each level providing 20 hrs./week. Students may choose academic, business, or culture emphasis. Enrollment available until the seventh week of the quarter. TOEFL prep., Internship/community service, and specialized ESL classes available. Part-time ESL, part-time college study available at final level. Direct entry to Edmonds Community College without TOEFL upon successful completion of the intensive ESL program. LocationEdmonds Community College is located 20 minutes north of Seattle in a safe residential neighborhood. The beautiful campus features a golf course and is only a 5 minute walk to the post office, banks, restaurants, and shops and recreation. Student apartments are located across the street from the campus.

Student ServicesInternational students are an integral part of the Edmonds campus and participate in all student activities. For example, the college's student government usually has international students as elected officers. Activities include trips to Canada, ski trips, a quarterly overnight orientation trip for new students, dances, cultural nights and other trips to festivals and events. International student clubs are active and there is the opportunity to converse one-to-one with American students. Educational Service OpportunitiesStudents applying for ESL may request conditional acceptance to the college. During the final level of ESL students can apply to take college classes instead of certain ESL classes with no additional fee. Advisors are available to assist students in entering college and in transfering to four year universities. No TOEFL is required to enter Edmonds upon successful completion of the ESL program with at least a B grade in all ESL classes. Through a special service/learning ESL class internships are available with local community organizations. TransportationAirport pickup service is available as part of the housing placement fee; students are met at Seattle-Tacoma airport and taken directly to the campus.
