Program for Intensive EnglishDescriptionInternational students study English along with immigrants in The Program for Intensive English, providing a good mix of languages and cultures in its classes. The program offers five levels of instruction, from Beginning to Advanced, in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar. Elective courses include American Idioms, Pronunciation, Intercultural Communication, , TOEFL/TOEIC Preparation, and Vocabulary Building. A modern computer lab enables students to study English on the computer, as well as have access to the Internet and e-mail. Students who successfully complete the highest level of the program can be admitted to Clackamas Community College without a TOEFL score.
LocationClackamas Community College is located in Oregon City, 20 miles south of Portland, the largest city in Oregon. Oregon City is a small, safe community and is close to many recreational opportunities. The beautiful college campus is close to apartments, shopping and restaurants. Mt. Hood, with skiing, snowboarding and hiking opportunities, is only an hour's drive. The beautful Oregon Coast is less than two hours from our campus.
Teaching QualificationsAll instructors have Master's Degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, or in a related field.

Educational Service OpportunitiesOnce students reach the advanced level, they may take some college classes in order to begin their degree study. The Intercultural Communication class combines both ESL students and native English speakers, so they learn about their respective cultural differneces from each other.
