Description

ELS Language Centers offers a group-intensive course that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced.  Each level takes four weeks to complete.  There are two basic programs: Intensive English = 30 hours/week; Semi-Intensive English = 20 hours/week. Electives include TOEFL Preparation, Multi-Media Language Lab, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English.

Four-week sessions start every month throughout the year.  A calendar of start dates may be found on our website at www.els.edu.

Location

ELS/Portland is located on the lovely campus of Concordia University, located less than 30 minutes from downtown Portland.  Portland, known as the City of Roses, lies at the junction of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers, in view of snow-capped Mount Hood.  As the tallest peak in Oregon s Cascade Mountain Range, Mt. Hood is surrounded by an immense national forest, making the area perfect for hiking, biking, fishing and snow sports.

It's easy to discover why Portland was named Money magazine's "Best Big City for 2000.  Life here is convenient and interesting with a great variety of world-class services.  Portland s short, 61-meter blocks make getting around easy.  Ride the Tri-Met bus and MAX light rail systems free in the 300-block downtown area.  There is no sales tax in Oregon which makes living in Portland very affordable.

Discover Portland's neighborhoods.  The Pearl District offers art galleries, boutiques and trendy cafes and restaurants.  Boutique-filled Nob Hill, Portland s most distinctive and historic neighborhood is known for its outstanding international cuisine.  Portland is also home to Powell s City of Books, America s largest independent bookstore housing more than a million volumes and occupying an entire city block.
