Iowa Intensive English ProgramDescriptionThe Iowa Intensive English Program (IIEP)provides international students with high quality intensive English instruction and a cultural, social and academic introduction to the U.S. It focuses on improving students' grammar, writing, reading, listening comprehension, pronunciation and conversation skills.
LocationThe University of Iowa is located in Iowa City, Iowa, a quiet, midwestern community of 62,000 people. Iowa City offers all of the amenities of a modern urban center, while maintaining a friendly, small-town atmosphere. It is an academically oriented and student-friendly community. It is a four- to six-hour drive to the major urban centers of Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
Teaching QualificationsAll classroom instructors are members of the University's Professional and Scientific Staff. They hold master's degrees in English as a Second Language or Applied Linguistics, and have an average of 12 years experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Many also have experience living and teaching English abroad.
