American Language & Culture Institute (ALCI)DescriptionThe American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI) offers a six-level certificate program of study taught in 3 semesters per year. The comprehensive curriculum emphasizes the development of intercultural skills, personal leadership, academic research writing, oral communication, seminar speaking skills and PowerPoint presentation. ALCI requires no TOEFL score to enter. Undergraduate students may audit classes in level 4 and must complete level 4 for university entrance. Graduate students may take up to 2 graduate courses for credit with ALCI and must complete level 6 for university entrance. ALCI students develop relationships with American students through the American/International Mentoring Program and International Student programs. ALCI advisors support all students in academic and life counseling. Special programs offered for Summer University Preparation course, high school, university, business groups and visiting scholars.
LocationAzusa Pacific University (APU) is located in Southern California, famous for scenic beauty, ethnic diversity, and recreational and cultural activities. The university is within an hours drive of Disneyland, beaches, mountain ski resorts and desert communities, such as Palm Springs.
Teaching QualificationsAll instructors have Masters degrees in TESOL or a related field and years of experience teaching international students. Instructors are dedicated Christians who adhere to the policies and mission statement of Azusa Pacific University.

FacilitiesAll APU campus facilities are available to ALCI students, including two libraries, the University bookstore, Student Union, 3 dining facilities and computer labs. ALCI students are welcome to attend all activities sponsored by the university, such as concerts, sporting events, and field trips.

Tuition, health insurance, university and book fees are paid each semester. All students living on campus must pay a housing deposit of $250. Students may choose to live off-campus in housing nearby.
