ELS Language Centers/PittsburghDescriptionELS Language Centers offers a group intensive program that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced. A Masters Level for highly advanced students is offered. Each level takes four weeks to complete. In addition, students at the intermediate and advanced levels may choose from a variety of special interest courses, including TOEFL Preparation, Multimedia Language Lab, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English. ELS Language Centers also offers Executive Training Programs customized to meet the particular needs of each student. There are two basic programs offered: Intensive English Course = 30 hours per week; Semi-Intensive English Course = 20 hours per week. Four-week sessions start every month throughout the year. A calendar of start dates may be found on our website at www.els.edu. LocationPittsburgh, one of the nation's top ten most livable cities, is noted for the beauty of its skyline. It is a major city with a small town feel-safe, affordable and friendly. There are over 28 colleges and universities in the area. Point Park University, located on a college campus in a thriving cultural and performing arts district, offers extensive support services with on campus residence halls. Take classes in Level 109 or above. See Conservatory performances free of charge, attend a Pirates (baseball), Steelers (football), or Penguins (hockey) game. Take advantage of the city's central location with weekend trips to D.C., N.Y. and Toronto.

FacilitiesStudents study at the downtown campus of Point Park University and have free access to all university facilities, including several computer labs, a Multi-media lab and free membership to the YMCA. Classrooms, cafetria and dormitory are in the same building as ELS.

Proprietary ELS textbooks, authored by the most respected authors in the field and available only to ELS students, are included in program tuition at Levels 101-109. Students at Levels 110-112 use authentic college-level English materials.
Also included is standardized level completion testing developed in cooperation with The Chauncy Group InternationalTM, a subsidiary of the Educational Testing Service® (ETS). These tests accurately measure a student's abilities upon completing each ELS level. ETS is the maker of SAT, GMAT, TOEFL, TOEIC and other standardized tests. AccommodationsDormitory: $940

A housing deposit of $200 for each session is required before reservations are confirmed. Student ServicesBefore applying to ELS Language Centers, students can contact a local counseling agent in their city/country by going to www.els.edu. Upon arrival, students will have access to the Center's international student advising team for counseling services. The advising team provides a wide range of services that include airport pickup, assistance with housing, cultural orientation, help with immigration matters, college admissions counseling, and sponsorship of a variety of social and recreational activities. Educational Service OpportunitiesNearly 600 colleges, universities and career schools in the U.S. accept completion of the ELS Intensive English program in place of the TOEFL. University placement services are provided, and students may earn university credit based on their ELS study upon enrolling at select partner institutions. A listing of ELS partner schools is available at www.els.edu. TransportationSchool is located on campus in downtown Pittsburgh. Dormitory is on campus. Off campus students can take bus or the T (subway).
