Intensive English Language Program

Description

The IELP at Cleveland State University will help you improve your English skills to study in the US, for your job or for personal improvement. The IELP has 4 levels and 5 courses in each level.  Orientation and Testing are held before the semester begins.  Cleveland State University accepts completion of Level 4 for its language proficiency requirement for admission. Location

Cleveland is located in the midwest area of the United States and alongside Lake Erie in the Great Lakes Region.  Students can enjoy four distinct seasons in this area. Cleveland is a welcomng, multicultural city where you can explore US culture and customs by visiting the many museums and cultural events in the city and the state of Ohio. 

Teaching Qualifications

IELP instructos are experienced professionals with degrees in ESL or related fields (e.g. English or Applied Linguistics) and have experience in the U.S. and/or in other cultures.

Fall & Spring Semesters =15 weeks, plus orientation and final exams.

Summer Session =12 weeks.  18 hours/week is full-time in the summer session.

Facilities

IELP courses are held on the core campus of Cleveland State University. IELP Students have full access to university facilities including libraries, computer labs, Health & Wellness Center, Student Center and the Recreation Center.

Costs for Dormitory and Apartment are one month averages.  Students who live on campus must also buy meal plans that vary in cost, but are not included in the dormitory cost above.  Details can be found at www.csuohio.edu/services/reslife and http://www.dineoncampus.com/csu/show.cfm?cmd=residents.  Students who live off campus usually share an apartment, so cost would be less.  Students usually do not stay in hotels for more than a week.   Hotel cost is an average cost per night.

Students have access to Health & Wellness Center, Libraries, Recreation Center, computer labs, student clubs and other student services.

Tutoring is available on campus.  The IELP also has conversation partners during the semesters.

Transportation

There is easy access to bus and rail service at or near the university.  The Cleveland airport is accessible by rail and taxi.  Taxi service requires a phone call.

The Intensive English Language Program is a member of the American Association of Intensive English Language Programs (AAIEP) and the International Association of International Educators (NAFSA).

Students must turn in the 1. application form, 2.  application fee, and 3. financial support documents (originals) in order to process the application.  Please send a copy of your passport to confirm birthdate and spelling of name. Students must be 18 years of age by the first day of classes in order to apply.
